Infernal Dreams: Unfinished Misery

Jillian sneaks up to her silently, just to be disappointed that Adrianna not even there to begin with. Her body is, but obviously neither her mind nor soul. Her close colleague always seems troubled at times but it seems worse today.

"Anna, what's actually happening? You look terrible, to be honest."

"Remember last week when I told you I had a really weird dream where I wear a very nice dress from medieval era but I was chased by the guards from unknown castle and weirdly, I jumped into an endless cliff to save myself?" Jillian nodded. The dream sounded funny when Adrianna first told her. So, the story kind of stay in her memory somehow.

"I dreamt about that same dream for a week now."

Adrianna's words sent shivers down her spine. She's not an expert in Oneirology. But this is not normal. She doesn't have to be a psychic to know that something is clearly not right. Adrianna is not someone who talks gibberish or acting weirdly without a reason. She is the most reasonable person Jillian ever knew. Always talking about how living in the big city without a plan is hard and crazy. And now, they are talking about a repetitive dream that is too peculiar to be ignored.

"These few nights' dream felt a bit different. I don't know what it is, but the dream feels incomplete like something has to be done for me to end the misery." Her mouth taste bitter than ever before. May it be the coffee or the truth that she now can no longer ignore the dream. But, Jillian's willingness to hear her story after work that day comforts her.

"Do you have any hint on what this dream maybe about? Maybe, names. What about the queen's name?" Jillian searches her purse for a pen. She reaches a piece of napkin in its slot and scribbles a few word on it. This maybe sound trivial to some, but in a contrary, it may help Adrianna solves her problem.

"Not a clue. The guards always refer her as 'The Queen' and I never talk to anyone in the dream, not to mention, meeting someone other than the guards." Jillian sighed unconsciously. This matter may take more time to be resolved.

"What about things or places you saw in that dream? Anything at all that may kicks off something."

Adrianna's brows furrowed as she try hard to remember anything from her dream. The old, dark library, the front yard of the castle, the dark forest. Nothing seems connected to whatever she try to find. Unconsciously, she hold her hands together.

A memory flashed in her eyes. There is something in her hands when she fell into the library last night. It's not like she fell onto it. More like, she fell with it. The only problem is, she cannot remember what the thing is.

"Maybe it's a book." Jillian breaks the silence between them, out of the blue. The puzzled look on Adrianna's face make her continues. "Well, there might a reason why you fall into the library every time."

Jillian made her point clearer before they separated late that afternoon. Walking alone back home, Adrianna try to find the connection between every dream she ever has. Always the same dress, the same escape route, the same voices chasing after her every night.

What if these dreams is not just a regular dream? What if it is a sign for something that lies unknown? What if it is a calling for something greater? At her first step into her home that afternoon, a decision has been made. She has to find the answer for this infernal dream. She has to find the ending.
