Infernal Dreams: The same dream

She woke up on her bed abruptly. Almost jumping off of it when she realized that she is still in her bedroom, the only place she has been sleeping every night for three years since she moved out of her hometown after her mom died of cancer. Everything in her room remains the same as they were before she went to sleep. The digital clock beside her bed just change it last digit to '4'. She let out a little sigh. It happened again.

Without any reason, Adrianna started to have a mysterious dream. Every night. It has been almost a week now since she dreamt about falling into an old-looking library from nowhere. The rows of tall bookshelves in a dark and high-ceiling room actually scared the most of her. Well, pretty much less than the moment she heard someone screamed her name from another end of the room the very first time. She started running out of the room, unconsciously. The sound of metal armors clanking behind her begins to fade, before the same voice started to scream again.

"Don't lose her!", he said.

"The Queen ordered to kill her at the first sight." Another voice added.

Adrianna tried to run as fast as she can but the heavily laced dress is limiting her pace. Even so, her body move by itself swiftly among the trees in the dark forest. Despite everything, she figured that something is for sure now. She is in a place that so foreign to her, yet her heart seem to know something that she herself still can not figure it out. Why is all the guards chasing her? Who is this so-called Queen and why she wants to kill her? Did she did something awful to her?

"There she is!"

She run towards her east, hoping that there's a knight in a shining armor will appear out of nowhere to help her, like in the movie that she used to hate to watch. But, hope is just a mere dream of a hopeless person like her. The miserable clanking armors started to sound a bit closer in every second.

She stopped. Turning back to face the guards who are only a few meters away from her. Her steps is limited now. Between the guards and the cliff behind her, a thought crossed her mind. This is just a dream. If the cliff is the only way out of this dream, she is more willing to jump into the unknown, rather than to be killed by whoever this queen is. As if she is standing at the edge of the world, Adrianna smiles to the guards and open her arms wide. Letting her body falls backward into the cliff while closing her eyes, leaving the guards whose watching her in confusion.

The fall feels unceasing. Almost regretting her own decision, she opened her eyes and saw the digital clock change its number.

3.23 am.

And that is how her dream ended. Falling into the same old-looking library and running away to the same edge every night. Exactly at 3.23 am. But tonight, it feels a bit different. Like there is something she needs to do. The reason why she ended up being in the library every time. She looks at her bare palms, uneasy and restless.
